COLOMBO: The Sri Lankan military on Friday claimed that two LTTE Sea Tiger leaders were killed when helicopter gunships attacked an LTTE boat movement. The Defence Ministry said Suhandini and Siran were killed in the attack in Kilaly lagoon area. One boat was destroyed while several others sustained damages, said Air Force spokesperson Janaka Nanayakkara. Separately, the Ministry said troops had breached the LTTE-built earth bund following heavy confrontations in the general area Nivil. LTTE terrorists have launched a counter attack to recapture [the] LTTE built earth bund while troops engaged in consolidating operations in newly captured areas. Troops successfully repulsed the LTTE attempts inflicting maximum damages to the enemy. Troops also sustained minor damages during the confrontation, it said. The Ministry said the troops had several confrontations with the Tiger cadre in their mission to capture the LTTE’s main administrative bastion in the north-eastern coastal belt, Mullathivu.
