Two persons were killed in the incident which took place in Bhiwani district on December 18 CHANDIGARH: Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda on Saturday announced a judicial inquiry into the circumstances leading to the police firing in village Kharak Kala of district Bhiwani on December 18 resulting in the death of two persons. The inquiry will be conducted by a retired Judge of the High Court, Mr. Hooda assured a committee formed by the villagers who met him at the Bhiwani Airport. Mr. Hooda had stopped over at the Bhiwani air strip while going from Chandigarh to Jind to address a rally there but due to bad weather he later left by road for Jind. The Chief Minister assured the president of the committee, Colonel Baghdawat Singh and other members that action would be taken against the guilty. He further asserted that those responsible for the “unfortunate” incident would have to face “necessary and legal action”. He added that the incident was undoubtedly deplorable. An official spokesman said that the committee members assured full cooperation to the district administration in maintaining peace and tranquillity in the area. Haryana Pradesh Congress Committee President Phool Chand Mullana, Director General of Police R.S. Dalal and Additional Director General of Police P.V. Rathi were also present during the meeting. Meanwhile, reports reaching the State headquarters said that there was palpable tension in the village for the third consecutive day with irate villagers disrupting road and rail traffic between Bhiwani and Rohtak and some miscreants allegedly “damaging railway lines and other property”. Reports said that the villagers had so far refused to “cremate” the bodies till their demand for strict action against the district authorities including the Deputy Commissioner and Superintendent of Police was accepted. An official spokesman said that the situation was likely to be defused after the assurance given by the Chief Minister.
