Three undertrials escape from jail
Staff Correspondent
MYSORE: Three undertrials lodged at the sub-jail in K.R. Nagar of Mysore district escaped after assaulting two warders at about 5.30 a.m. on Sunday.
The jail inmates reportedly threw chilli powder into the eyes of one warder and stabbed another before escaping from the prison after breaking open the main door lock with a pickaxe.
The police gave the names of the undertrials as Harish of Hunsur taluk, Sonuraj and Rajesh from Bangalore.
Police sources told The Hindu that warder Rangaswamy opened the first of the three cells around 5.30 a.m. and asked two inmates, including Harish, to prepare breakfast for the inmates. But Harish remained in the cell on the pretext of rolling his mattress and came out after sometime with Sonuraj and Rajesh and threw chilli powder into the eyes of Mr. Rangaswamy, who was waiting outside the cell. The warder was also allegedly assaulted by them.
