Chandigarh: The Chandigarh Administration’s Health Department here on Sunday provided oral polio vaccine to children in the age group of 0-5 years. More than 75,000 children were given anti polio drops by end of the day. Arrangements463 stationary booths and 66 mobile teams were deputed for the pulse polio immunisation campaign consisting of about 2100 personnel belonging to health, education, social welfare department, various nursing Institutions, students of GMCH-32, PGIMER, NSS Volunteers from colleges and NGOs. Special arrangements were made to provide oral polio drops at all entry points to the city, including ISBT Sector 17 and 43, railway station and airport, an official release said here. The chilly weather and fog in the morning resulted in less beneficiaries reaching booths as compared to the last month, however it picked up as weather improved. By the evening maximum attendance was reported from booths located in Bapu Dham, Ram Darbar, Mauli Jagran, Indira Colony, Nehru Colony, Colony No.4, Colony No.5, Dhanas, Dadumajra, Sarangpur, Khudda Jassu and Khudda Lahora. Over the next two days all the remaining children shall be administered polio drops by house-to-house visiting teams. --PTI
