This Day That Age
Under the auspices of the Astro-nautical Society of India, an experimental rocket said to be the sixth of its kind was launched at 6-45 p.m. in a maidan in the outskirts of Mysore city. The rocket was 3.4 feet in length, its maximum diameter being two inches and total weight sixteen lbs. The fuel burnt for one second and it is estimated the rocket went up about 10,000 feet. Mr. D.M. Rao of the High Speed Aeronautics Department of the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, was among those who witnessed the launching of the rocket on December 21.
