Dr. S.R. Ranganathan, an authority on Library Science, expressed the hope in Madras on December 19 that within the next ten years schools in India would have undergone such a transformation that they would enshrine the modern philosophy of education which highlighted the individuality of the child. He said the atmosphere in the institution and the teaching techniques should all change to put this new educational philosophy, enunciated by the eminent American educationist, Professor John Dewey, into practice.
