SCR and APP enter final

HYDERABAD: South Central Railway defeated Nav Bharath Club 5-2 in the semifinal of the Vamshi Krishna Memorial invitation hockey tournament at Begumpet Police Stadium here on Sunday. The winner led 1-0 at the break.

SCR took the lead in the first-half through Mayank James. In the second session, Bharath and Amit Kumar struck twice each. For the loser, Chandan Singh and Nityanand reduced the margin.

In another semifinal, Andhra Pradesh Police defeated Sports Authority of India (STC, Secunderabad) 1-0 with centre-forward Suri Babu scoring the match-winner in the 18th minute of first-half.

Rajasthan men triumph

Rajasthan men and Delhi women won the titles in the all-India BSNL kabaddi championship which concluded here.

In the men’s section, Andhra Pradesh finished second.

Special prizes were given to Sashikala of Delhi (best woman all-rounder) and in the men’s section to Satish Reddy (AP — best raider), Sanjeev Kumar (UP — best catcher) and Kulwant Singh (Rajasthan — best all-rounder).

Hyderabad Globe wins

Hyderabad Globe defeated State Bank of Hyderabad 2-0 in the SAAP Budweiser Premier League football championship with Junaid Khan scoring in the 40th minute and Saleh in the 64th minute through a penalty-kick conversion.

In another match, Bharat Dynamics Ltd recorded a solitary goal win over AOC with Faisal scoring the match-winner in the 22nd minute.

Ravi hits century

A century by Ravi Kumar (107) helped Wesley Degree College record a 236-run win over Dharmavanth Degree College in the Osmania University inter-collegiate cricket tournament here.

HCA selections

Hyderabad Cricket Association named the list of under-14 teams and the players for selection trial matches to be played at the Parade Grounds from December 24 to 29 at Parade Grounds, according to D.S. Chalapathi, joint secretary of HCA.
