Oozing confidence: PR leader Nagababu at a party review meeting at Bhimavaram in West Godavari district on Tuesday. BHIMAVARAM: Kathula Satya Prasad, a childhood friend of Praja Rajyam chief Chiranjeevi, came under serious criticism from his rival group within the party during the marathon review session undertaken by Mr Chiranjeevi’s brother Nagababu here. In a bid to set the house in order, Mr. Nagababu held a series of review meetings involving leaders and ticket aspirants from all the Assembly constituencies in West Godavari district from December 21 to 24. However, Mr. Nagababu remained a silent witness to the defiant mood by the group opposed to Dr. Satyaprasad on Monday night. The showdown culminated in the suspension of four party leaders belonging to the anti-Satyaprasad camp by Mr. Nagababu for ‘anti-party’ activities. Even as Mr. Nagababu was holding review meetings at D.N.R. College in the town by reportedly taking Dr. Satyaprasad into confidence, the rival group stayed away from the exercise and remained in the party office. The rival group sent a word to Mr. Nagababu about their sulking mood and ensured that he reached the party office late in the night. The rivals complained to Mr. Nagababu about the alleged unilateral functioning of Dr. Satyaprasad, who had not invited a section of partymen opposing his leadership to the party programme. After Mr. Nagababu left the party office, the rivals held a parallel meeting and decided to continue their boycott programme until they got an assurance from Mr. Nagababu to rein in Dr. Satyaprasad. Dr. Satyaprasad, a medical practitioner who joined hands with Mr. Chiranjeevi in support of his party, is being targeted by his critics for running the party as a one-man show. Although he was shortlisted for the post of PR district convener, the party top brass, however, deferred an official announcement fearing a backlash from the rival camp.
