This Day That Age
The Indian film “Pather Panchali” was last night named as the best foreign film of 1958 by the National Board of Review of Motion Pictures in New York. Ingrid Bergman, was named as the best actress. She was given the award for her performance in “The Inn of the Sixth Happiness”. The Board named Spencer Tracy as the best actor of 1958, awarding him the title for his performances in “The Old Man and the Sea” and “The Last Hurrah”. “The Old Man and the Sea” was chosen as the best American film of the year. John Ford was named the best director for his work on “The Last Hurrah”.
