dated December 24, 1958: Dr. Taraknath Das dead

Dr. Taraknath Das, Professor of Political Science at the Columbia University, died in New York on December 22 of a heart attack. Born in India, Dr. Das came to the United States 57 years ago and became a naturalised American citizen. He founded the Friends for Freedom of India Society during World War I. Seventy-four year old Dr. Das was the author of several books, including one on India’s foreign policy and another on Dr. Rabindranath Tagore.
