Corrections and clarifications

In an article “Portents of insurance amendments” (Op-Ed, December 22, 2008), the last sentence of the first paragraph was “Also what could be the earthily rationale of increasing by a trifling Rs. 95 crore the capital of an institution with assets of Rs. 1,17,204 crore as of fiscal 2007-08?” The assets of LIC, in the fiscal 2007-2008, are Rs.8,04,000 crore and the asset over liability is Rs.1,17,204 crore.
