Woman mowed down by tipper

Staff Reporter

HYDERABAD: A speeding tipper ran over a woman sweeping the road and came to a halt after ramming into a temple’s compound wall at Shubhodaya Colony in Kukatpally in the early hours of Tuesday.

The driver of the tipper fled the spot while four co-workers of the victim Ch. Sunitha, 26, a municipal contract worker, managed to escape from the tipper allegedly driven rashly and in the wrong route. Sunitha and the other four were cleaning the road when the tipper laden with mud lost control around 2 a.m.

The vehicle first knocked down the woman leaving her dead on the spot and crashed into the compound wall of Anjaneya temple on the roadside, Kukatpally SI Safdar Ali said. Police suspect that the driver could have been in an inebriated condition. The victim is a resident of VAMBAY Colony in Yellammabanda.
