Anantapur wins hockey tourney

GUNTUR: Anantapur drubbed Visakhapatnam 5-0 in the State-level Under-14 Inter District Hockey tournament to win the trophy on Acharya Nagarjuna University campus on Tuesday. The three-day event concluded here with last year’s champions Anantapur scoring four field goals and one through penalty corner.
The goal scorers were K. Amarnath, V. Sree Ramu, B. Siva (penalty corner) and M. Hareesh and the Player of the Tournament prize went to P. Imran of Guntur district.
The CBR Foundation gave away cash prizes of Rs.1,600 each to the winners and runner-up teams. University rector K. Viyyanna Rao complimented the Andhra Hockey Association and asked students toimprove their skills to reach the international standards. “Students must bring back the past glory of India,” he added.
