Assistance for poor women

KRISHNAGIRI: Unmarried poor women who have crossed 50 years of age are eligible to get Rs. 400 per month as financial assistance from the government.Beneficiaries under this scheme should be unmarried women above 50 years of age without any source of income and should not be beggars. Eligible women can approach the special tahsildhars (Social Security Scheme) in taluks or apply directly at the grievances redressal office at the collectorate. District Collector V.K. Shanmugam asked the beneficiaries not to rely on intermediaries to get financial assistance under this scheme. More than one application will not be accepted.
