Kindergarten students of Vignan School displaying vegetables at ‘Veggie Facts’ expo and explaining nutrition values of each one in Guntur on Wednesday. – GUNTUR: Playing with colourful vegetables students of Kindergarten section and Classes 1 and 2 of Vignan Global Gen School here explained some nutrition facts about majority of them inspiring them to eat at home. Pediatrician D. Ramamurthy inaugurating the ‘Veggie Facts’ exhibition organised by the school in Brundavan Gardens, said that many of the children did not know, see or even eat tamarind, Emblica (Amla), and some vegetables that were crucial for growth at younger age. Asking students to do some role-play of vegetables or playfully explaining them nutrition facts would inspire them to eat them at home. School director Pathuri Koteswara Rao was also present on the occasion and gave away prizes to students, who explained facts through rhymes. There were carrots, cabbage, cucumber and cauliflower, potatoes including some rare vegetables that children do not see regularly. The children explained well the vitamins, nutrients and presence of carbohydrates in the vegetables. The paediatrician explained vitamins and how they are useful for the children to grow well and get resistance power. All the parents visited the stalls and appreciated the little kids for their explanation and knowledge of vegetables.
