PANAJI: The Goa police on Wednesday morning arrested one suspect who, according to the police, was found loitering in an undisclosed prohibited Naval area in the port town of Mormugao in south Goa. “We are interrogating the person, we do not want to say anything about him at this stage,” Superintendent of Police (CID) Atmaram Deshpande told journalists at State police headquarters in the evening. He specifically said that it would be improper to call the person a terror suspect. He said the person was handed over to Mormugao police by the Naval authorities. He was unable to say how the person reached the prohibited area of the Navy, but added that the same would be part of the investigation. Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Shriprakash Jaiswal, who arrived in Goa on Wednesday to chair an internal security review meeting with the Goa Chief Minister and top police and administrative officials, also declined to comment about the detained person.
