AIFB wants Bills withdrawn

Special Correspondent

NEW DELHI: The All-India Forward Bloc on Wednesday urged the government to withdraw the Bills that were passed amid pandemonium in Parliament on Tuesday and reintroduce them in the next session.

“The way the government has passed a number of Bills in Parliament yesterday is a shame to democratic traditions of the country. The Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party played a tricky game for passing these Bills without any debate. This unhealthy practice of sidelining Parliament is against all democratic norms written in the Constitution,” the party central secretariat said here.

At the conclusion of its two-day meet here, the party conveyed its opposition to the government’s move to hike the foreign direct investment in the insurance sector.

It said this “dangerous” venture showed that the United Progressive Alliance leadership had not learnt lessons from the present global economic crisis.
