Panchayat president honoured

VIRUDHUNAGAR: The Virudhunagar Collector, K. Raghupathy, honoured the Pethureddiyapatti village panchayat president, S.K.S. Rajendran, who had bagged the Uthamar Gandhi award, here on Tuesday.
The award comprises a medal along with Rs. 5 lakh cash award for the administrative performance and implementation of Government beneficial programmes to the people.
Appreciated
The president was appreciated for mobilising adequate income for the local body and computerising the tax collection system.
The first-ever award bagged by any president in the district brought honour to the district as well, the Collector said.
