UNITED FIGHT: Leaders of CPI, CPI (M) and TRS led by TDP president N. Chandrababu Naidu submitting a memorandum to Governor N. D. Tiwari at Raj Bhavan on Wednesday. HYDERABAD: A delegation of leaders of the Opposition Telugu Desam, CPI, CPI (M) and TRS, met the Governor, N. D. Tiwari on Wednesday and appealed to him to summon for examination and safe custody of all files relating to “large scale corruption by persons occupying high positions in the State”. The delegation included TDP president, N. Chandrababu Naidu, P. Madhu (CPI-M), Chada Venkat Reddy (CPI) and E. Rajender (TRS) told the Governor that the files could be tampered. They wanted the Governor to direct the government to register individually and investigate at all places in districts where the Fisheries department engineer, V. Suryanarayana had executed works of various departments. They also sought removal of the Cabinet Ministers allegedly involved in favouring Mr. Suryanarayana and the Chief Secretary and send a detailed report to Central Government. Gross failureThey complained to the Governor that there has been gross failure of rule of law and complete collapse of administrative machinery resulting in large-scale misappropriation of public funds. This has happened with the connivance of the Chief Minister’s Office, several Ministers, Chief Secretary and other senior officials as manifested in the “scam” piloted by Mr. Suryanarayana. People of the State were outraged by the extent of the scam, the modus operandi and the way multilayer executive machinery has caved in under the weight of an engineer’s action. Yet it was matter of deep concern that the Chief Minister has not appropriately responded to the widespread concern of the people, the Opposition parties and the media in the matter. BJP seeks CBI probeThe State BJP has urged Governor N. D. Tiwari to take action against Ministers for their alleged involvement in irregularities committed by Fisheries Department Executive Engineer V. Suryanarayana. A delegation of the party leaders, including State unit president B. Dattatreya and Ch. Vidyasagar Rao, met Mr. Tiwari at Raj Bhavan on Wednesday and submitted a memorandum. They sought a detailed investigation by the CBI and special fast track courts to try the accused. YSR faultedThe memorandum said that the recent exposure of multi-crore scam in the Fisheries Department and the involvement of bureaucrats and politicians had shocked the State. It faulted Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy for his observation that Ministers were not guilty. It was like giving judgment before the trial.
