‘Opposition parties politicising Kakinada SEZ issue’

SANGAREDDY: Minister for Major Industries J. Geeta Reddy on Wednesday clarified that the State government is not related with the land acquisition for Special Economic Zone (SEZ) at Kakinada in East Godavari district. She said that it was done by a private party.

Speaking to reporters at Gajwel along with Roads and Buildings Minister T. Jeevan Reddy, she said that the government is not making any moves to acquire lands from farmers forcefully.

“SEZs are being established at 87 places and at no place was the land by force. We are only extending facilities that are needed to establish SEZs,” she said. However, the Minister did not refer to the police entering the scene and threatening the locals.

Blaming the Opposition parties for politicising the issue, Ms. Reddy said they are provoking farmers for political advantage.

Mr. Jeevan Reddy alleged that the Opposition parties are making an issue out of it for their survival.
