This Day That Age
Delivering the presidential address at the 21st session of the Indian History Congress, Dr. Kalikinkar Datta, Principal of the Patna College, appealed to all concerned “to see that the study of history of our country and also the history of other important countries becomes compulsory for all our youths, so that they are saved from proceeding along wrong tracks”. About 350 delegates from universities, State and Central Governments and cultural organisations in India are attending the conference. Three delegates representing the Royal Asiatic Society of Ceylon are also participating in the Congress. Dr. Datta told the delegates that conscious and concerted efforts of the fraternity had become all the more necessary to arrest in time the most discouraging practice at some places to relegate historical studies to a minor position in the curricula at different stages.
