‘Peshis recommend Rs. 700 cr worth civil works’ Not against probing Suryanaryana’s deals: Narayana
CPI State secretary K. Narayana sitting on a solid rock at the venue of the AIYF district conference at Nelakondapali village in Khammam district on Friday. — NELAKONDAPALLI ( Khammam dt): The CPI, CPI(M) and TDP would go in for joint action to expose the involvement of Ministers in the civil works scam centring fisheries department official V. Suryanarayana, according to CPI state secretary, K. Narayana on Friday. Addressing the AIYF district conference here, he said peshis of some Ministers had recommended Suryanarayana’s case for execution of civil works costing over Rs 700 crores pertaining to eight departments. If the Ministers concerned were in the know of the involvement of their peshis, they should either be party to the scam or be incompetent to hold such responsibility. He said the CPI, CPI(M) and the TDP would organise a state-wide protest on January 5 and lay siege to the collectorates in all the districts. He pointed out that Suryanarayana could manage to secure the contracts, even though the Chief Minister had at one stage opposed giving works to him. Mr. Narayana said that he was not against probing the deals involving Suryanarayana during the regime of the TDP chief N. Chandrababu Naidu. Stating that corruption had become rampant in the Congress rule, he justified terming Congress leader like Malreddy Ranga Reddy as dacoit.
