NHRC seeks U.P. report

NEW DELHI: The National Human Rights Commission on Friday issued notice to the Uttar Pradesh government on the killing of PWD engineer M.K. Gupta allegedly by Bahujan Samaj Party MLA Shekhar Tewari and his supporters.

Taking suo motu cognisance of the reports about the killing at Auraiya near Kanpur, the Commission asked the Chief Secretary and the Director-General of Police to submit a report within two weeks.
