Mr. Andrei Gromyko, the Soviet Foreign Minister, addressing a joint session of the Supreme Soviet in Moscow on December 25, said that if Britain and the U. S did not abandon testing nuclear weapons for ever, Russia would consider herself free to carry out as many as the West. “If the Berlin question is not solved along the lines of the Soviet proposals the situation in Berlin may become similar to that in which Sarajevo found itself on the eve of the First World War”, declared Mr. Gromyko later in his speech.
