Use quality mosquito spray, minister tells officials

Doctors willing to serve will be appointed in agency, he says

VIZIANAGARAM: The 62nd governing body of the Parvathipuram ITDA was held exactly after a gap of two years on Saturday for reasons best known to the powers-that-be. Taking a serious view on delay in conducting the meeting, Minister for Forests S. Vijayarama Raju has stressed on the need to conduct the governing body once in three months and discuss problems of people in the Agency.

Even at the meeting the discussions were limited to the long-pending demand for a bridge across River Nagavali between Poornapadu and Labesu in Komarada mandal, appointment of doctors and infrastructure facilities like roads in scheduled areas. MLAs Kolaka Lakshmana Murty and P. Rajanna Dora, Collector G. Ram Narayana Reddy and ITDA Project Officer M. Rama Rao, ZPTC members and other officials were present.

At the meeting, Kolaka Lakshmana Murty, MLA has pointed out that in spite of raising the Poornapadu-Labesu bridge issue in the Assembly and got sanctioning of funds couple of years ago the execution of it has not been taken up.

He said that Mr. Vijayarama Raju had promised to execute the work through national highways but it was not done till date. In his reply, the Minister said that the Executive Engineer concerned, who was willing to take up the job, was transferred and no one was coming forward to do it. However, efforts were being made to rope in a contractor, he added.

Malaria deaths

On deaths due to malaria, the Minister asked the Malaria Department to use quality anti-mosquito spray. On shortage of doctors, he said that Collector could appoint those who were willing to serve in the agency.

The Minister announced that the government had sanctioned a primary health centre for Peda Bondapalli in Parvathipuram mandal and a 30-bed hospital for Chinamerangi, his native village in Jiyyammavalasa mandal. On expenditure under various heads of accounts, including advances given to employees, the Minister asked the PO to hold a separate meeting in a month and obtain clarifications.

Collector Ram Narayana Reddy said that though roads under NREGP was given the last priority in the Tribal Region it would be taken up on priority.
