Week-long music fete from Dec. 30

Eminent artistes from all over the country to participate

Kakinada: A musical extravaganza is waiting to enthrall the people from December 30. It’s a week-long festival of classical music being organised by Abhyudaya Foundation at Suryakala Mandir here to mark the completion of 10 years of its formation. The event ‘Sampradaya Sanskritika Vaibhavam’ will feature concerts by eminent artistes from all over the country. It will also have Sri Rudra Yagam performed for world peace on December 31 and a cultural exhibition named ‘Andhra Vaibhavam’, said the Foundation chairman Badam Madhava Rao. He told media persons on Saturday that the objective of the music festival was to propagate richness of Indian culture and pass it on to posterity. The performing artists would be felicitated as a mark of respect to them and their achievements.

The program is: December 30- Nadaswaram recital by Seshampatti T. Sivalingam and vocal concert by Sengottai Harihara Subrahmaniam, December 31- Harikatha by Dhoolipala Sivaramakrishna Sarma and vocal concert by Nedunuri Krishna Murthy and a discourse by Garikipati Narasimha Rao, January 1- vocal by Ranjani and Gayatri and Bharatanatyam by Anitha Guha & party, January 2- rendering of Devi Krithis by Mambalam Sisters (R Chitra and Vijayalakshmi) and flute recital by Shashank, January 3- Annamacharya Sankeertana Vaibhavam by Garimella Balakrishna Prasad and special program ‘Andhra Sangeetha Vaibhavam’ by Malladi Suri Babu, January 4- vocal concert by Karthika Anagha, violin solo by Vinay Rahul, Mandolin concert by U. Srinivas and Sri Rama Kathasaram dance ballet by Pasumarthy Ramalinga Sastry, January 5- Hindustani vocal by Pandit Ajay Chakraborthy and Mayabazar mythological play by Surabhi (Babji) Group.
