Man dies in police custody in Gudur

GUDUR (NELLORE): A 53-year-old man, Shaik Mastan, who was brought to the station in a family dispute case died under suspicious circumstances in police custody. The incident occurred in Two Town police station on Saturday.

According to DSP Gangadharam, the deceased was a resident of Diguva Veerareddypalli and was working as driver in a private school. His wife, Rasool Bi, lodged a complaint with the police at around 10 p.m. on Friday, alleging that Mastan was harassing her in inebriated condition.

The police brought him to the station after some time and while questioning him in presence of his wife, Mastan suffered heart attack and collapsed.

The police rushed him to Gudur Government Hospital, where the doctors declared him brought dead, said the DSP.

The body was handed over to the family members after post-mortem. Investigation is on, said the DSP.
