Meeting discusses Bennehalla project

BANGALORE: Speaker of the Legislative Assembly Jagadish Shettar and MLAs from Gadag and Dharwad districts on Saturday urged Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa to hand over the Bennehalla project to Karnataka Neeravari Nigam Ltd. (KNNL) for the removal of silt.

A meeting chaired by Mr. Shettar discussed all aspects of the project. Legislative Council Chairman Veeranna Mathikatti; Suresh Angadi, MP; and MLAs from Dharwad and Gadag districts attended the meeting. Mr. Mathikatti said the Chief Minister would be urged to allocate funds for silt removal in the next Budget. — Special Correspondent
