SANGAREDDY: The opposition parties on Saturday urged the Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) to join hands with them to prevent split of votes in the next general elections.

Participating in the ‘political conference’ held here, CPM floor leader Nomula Narasimhaiah, CPI State secretariat member K. Rama Krishna, former Ministers Chikkala Ramachandra Rao and Babu Mohan made this request to the TRS.

They said that it was required to prevent the Congress party from coming to power again.

Coming down heavily on the Congress party, the opposition leaders said that all the welfare schemes being used by the ruling party leaders, while the genuine were denied benefits.“People were put to death for demanding allotment of 60 yard sites while hundreds of acres were allotted to the industries,” they alleged.

Suicides

Referring to suicides by farmers, Mr. Narasimhaiah said, around 2,800 farmers had committed suicides after Congress party came to power. He also recalled the suicides of weavers in Karimnagar district.

Later, all party leaders along with party workers burnt the effigy of Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy as a mark of protest against forcefully vacating the poor from Bheemrauwada in Hyderabad for the construction of Congress party State headquarters.
