CPI MLC highlights irregularities in NREGP Botcha accused of using state machinery for personal issues VIZIANAGARAM: ‘Rajakeeya Sammelan’ (political convention) of the TDP-Left combine has decided to chalk-out common agenda to defeat the Congress both at the Centre and in the State; at the same time preventing the Bharateeya Janata Party from coming to power in New Delhi. P. Ashok Gajapathi Raju, Ambica Krishna and Y. Ramana Murty (all TDP), Ch. Narasinga Rao and M. Krishna Murty (CPI-M), J. Wilson, MLC and P. Kameswara Rao (CPI), who spoke at the meeting on Sunday that began with a rasta-roko at Mayuri junction in protest against the eviction of dwellers at Bhimrao Bada in Hyderabad on Saturday and subsequent arrests of the party leaders, felt that coming together of the three parties after a long gap is a welcoming step. Taking a dig at the government policies, Mr. Ashok said that Minister for Housing Botcha Satyanarayana was having links in every scam that came to light in the State, the recent one being the Fisheries. Barring scams, not an assurance given before the elections by Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy was implemented successfully, he said and added that not an acre land was released water from Jhanjhavati and Peddagedda that the Chief Minister had inaugurated in 2006 and 2007. Call to leadersThe construction too was inferior if the damage to Thotapalli bund were an indication. He called upon leaders and cadres of both Left and TDP to work jointly for providing better future to the coming generation. Mr. Ambica Krishna appealed to State leaders to prepare a common manifesto for the benefit of poor. Owing administrative lapses prices of essential commodities touched all time high, he said. J. Wilson, CPI MLC pointed out irregularities even in NREGP and said that not even15 per cent of the job seekers were provided 100 days work but the government spent about Rs.40,000 crores on the scheme and this was proved beyond doubt in the social audit of the government. Ch. Narasinga Rao, CPI (M) leader said that the Rs.1 lakh crore Budget of the State was not properly utilised. He said that Minister Satyanarayana was using government machinery for meeting his personal issues. P. Narayana Swamy Naidu, Padala Aruna and Tentu Lakshmi Naidu (all TDP MLAs), K. Lakshmana Murty CPI (M) MLA, D.V.G. Sankara Rao, former MP and others were present.
