VIKARABAD (Ranga Reddy dist.): Praja Rajyam Party president K. Chiranjeevi flayed the government for its ‘continued neglect’ of the interests of the poor and the downtrodden, while simultaneously pandering to the rich and promoting ‘lawlessness’. Addressing a moderately-attended public meeting on the concluding day of his ‘Praja Ankita Yatra’ in the district, he urged people to re-think around the time of the next elections and ‘teach an unforgettable lesson’ to political parties that cheated them. For the second day in succession, the Praja Rajyam president referred to the Bhimraobada incident and lashed out at the ‘uncaring government that could uproot the poor overnight’ from a piece of land in the heart of the State capital just because the ruling party wanted to build its State headquarters there. Call to youthHe expressed concern at the growing levels of corruption that spread into all spheres of activity and said it was time for the youth to rise up as one and fight it. Despite the tall talk of development by the Govgrnment, the poor became poorer and the rich grew richer at their expense. Firm plansHe said the Praja Rajyam had firm plans aimed at channelising energy and enthusiasm of the youth. The foundation for development lay in having infrastructure in place to provide quality education and healthcare services. Only if the youth had access to education and their health needs were taken care of could they contribute to the nation’s development, he said. Given the feedback from his district tours, Mr. Chiranjeevi said he was sure that people wanted a change and that only his party could offer a change for better. For years now, he said poor and the middle classes were taken for a ride by political parties that promised the moon, but promptly forgot it once they came to power.
