Case against journalists, writer

MANGALORE: The Mangalore South Police have registered a case against S.L. Bhairappa, senior writer, and two journalists and the printer of a Kannada daily in connection with a published article.

The case was registered on a complaint filed by P. B. D’Sa, president of Dakshina Kannada unit of People’s Union for Civil Liberties (PUCL).

In his complaint Mr. D’Sa alleged the article titled Inthaha Ghatane Bere Yava Deshadalli Nadedeethu published on October 16, 2008 in Vijaya Karnataka daily incites communal feelings.

The article was published after Christian prayer halls were attacked. It further hurt the feelings of Christians, he alleged. Vishveshwara Bhat, U.K. Kumaranath and K.R. Ramesh have also been named in the complaint.
