Tirupur: The Apparel Export Promotion Council (AEPC) under Union Ministry of Textiles will take part in two international trade fairs scheduled at Dusseldorf in Germany and Las Vegas in the United States of America during February 2009 to promote Indian apparels abroad. Official sources said that the Council had booked 15 booths at the ‘Global Fashion-2009’ fair in Dusseldorf and 40 at the ‘Magic Fair (sourcing zone)’ in Las Vegas, for its member exporters. The stalls would be allocated on a first-come-first basis. Sources said that the ‘Magic Fair (sourcing zone)’ in Las Vegas would offer immense opportunities for the textile entrepreneurs to widen their base in the U. S. Non-branded itemsAt present, 30 per cent of the overall textile and clothing products manufactured in the country find its market in the U.S. With change in trends recently, the U.S. would give the opportunity of selling garments made of value-added fibres. The German event would provide a platform for the producers of non-branded items to identify buyers of large volumes of textile products. Similarly, the fair would give a chance for the manufactures of branded products to fetch bulk production orders well in advance. For participating in the fairs, exporters were entitled to avail the Market Development Assistance extended under a scheme of Union Ministry of Commerce and Industry.
