Woman dies

Tirupur: Gouri (19), wife of Ramesh, allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself in S.S. Nagar here on Saturday evening.
The police said she took the extreme step owing to family problems. The Revenue Divisional Officer had launched an inquiry into the incident since the death occurred within seven years of her marriage. In this case, the deceased got married only a few months ago.
Burglary
Burglars allegedly gained entry into a house at Radhakrishnan Nagar near here on Saturday evening and decamped with nine sovereigns of jewellery.
The police said the accused broke open the back door of the house and then took away the ornaments kept inside a cupboard. The Anuparpalayam police are investigating.
Chain snatching
In separate incidents, some unidentified persons snatched chains from two pedestrians here on Saturday night. The police said a 7.5 sovereign ornament worn by V. Chitra (34) was plucked by two persons who came in motorcycles at R.V.E. Layout. Similarly, a 2.75 sovereign chain was snatched by a bike rider from Gita (27) in the dark at Pillayar Koil street.
