Opposition parties will resist government: Naidu

HYDERABAD: The opposition parties have criticised the government for its efforts to displace the poor by forcibly acquiring their lands.

Expressing concern over the way the government was “shielding the rich who illegally occupied Wakf and Gurukul Trust lands”, the Opposition parties including the TDP, CPI(M), CPI and TRS announced their resolve to fight the government’s moves. “There is a need to check the acquisition of land belonging to poor which is going on unabated,” TDP president N. Chandrababu Naidu said.

Speaking to reporters after an interaction with the families displaced from Bhimraobada here on Sunday afternoon, Mr. Naidu recalled the Kakinada SEZ where farmers had to fight for protecting their own lands.

CPI (M) State secretary B.V. Raghavulu charged the government with “uttering blatant lie” that the residents volunteered to vacate the premises.
