Schools celebrate Christmas

PUDUCHERRY: Christmas was celebrated with fun and songs at The Study school. A play on the nativity scene called “Manger Mania” was held on December 14. Around 50 children took part in the school choir and 20 acted in the play. Managing Director of Pondicherry Textile Corporation Theva Neethi Dhas and Soma Guhathakurta of Frontier Lifeline Hospital, Chennai were present. The school choir also won the first prize at the choir competition conducted by Sacred Heart Church on December 14.

At Petit Seminaire Higher Secondary School, M. Sriram of Class VIII was selected for the Republic Day camp (launch I and launch II), and was at the training camp at CRPF, Avadi, Chennai from December 9. He was the only NCC Air Wing cadet from the whole of the Union Territory to attend the training camp, according to Second Officer P.T. Xavier, Associate NCC officer (Air Force).

M. Kathirvel of Class IX and S. Sivanesan of Class VIII bagged the first and the second place respectively in the Puducherry under 25-years chess championship conducted by Calve Bangalow Chess Club.

Christmas was celebrated on December 22 both in the main school and in the primary school with carols, crib and surprising prizes by Santa Claus. Principal of the school Fr. M.S. John Bosco gave the Christmas day message for high school students, and Vice-Principal Fr. Pascal Raj arranged for a similar programme in the primary school. Cakes were distributed to all the students.

The National Service Scheme unit of St. Patrick Matriculation Higher Secondary School conducted a drawing competition to create awareness on HIV/AIDS.
