Millions of New Yorkers had newspapers at their breakfast tables on December 29 for the first time for nearly three weeks. The costliest strike experienced by the industry in New York shut down all nine major morning and afternoon newspapers for 19 days. It ended on December 28 after more than 2,600 members of the Delivery-men’s Union voted to accept a peace settlement agreed upon by their negotiators with the publishers last Friday.
