Ready to take on Balakrishna: Purandeswari

Staff Reporter

To abide by high command decision

GUNTUR: Union Minister of State for Human Resource Daggubati Purandeswari has thrown back the gauntlet against her younger brother and movie star Nandamuri Balakrishna by saying here on Monday that she is ready to contest against him, if the Congress high command decides so. It might be reminded that Mr. Bala Krishna has said in Rajahmundry recently that he would contest against his elder sister, if the TDP decides so.

Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of a national seminar on `Privatisation of Education,’ held on the premises of J.K.C College, she said that she would abide by any decision taken by the high command and was ready to contest from any parliamentary constituency in the state.

Replying to a query over TDP posers that the Congress was propping her up due to her lienage, Ms. Purandheswari categorically stated that she has been elevated as a union minister solely on her performance and good wishes of the party high command. She however added that she would continue to be proud of being NTR’s daughter.

The Union Minister shared the dias with Guntur Member of Parliament Rayapati Sambasiva Rao, amid speculation that she might contest from Guntur Lok Sabha seat and both of them were seen in good spirits.
