Raza Foundation Award for Odissi dancer

BHUBANESWAR: Internationally acclaimed Odissi dancer Sujata Mohapatra would be the recipient of the coveted Raza Foundation award for 2008. The award, that carries a citation and a cash award of Rs.one lakh, has been instituted by Paris-based acclaimed Indian painter S.H. Raza. “In view of your creative dynamism, personal imagination and style and aesthetic vision, Raza Foundation has chosen you as the awardee this year,” noted the letter to the dancer from prominent poet, Lalit Kala Akademi’s chairperson and The Raza Foundation advisor Ashok Vajpeyi.Disciple and daughter-in-law of the legendary Odissi Guru Kelucharan Mohapatra, Sujata would be conferred the award during the Foundation’s festival in New Delhi on January 19 and 20 where Raza would be present. Sujata has been the recipient of the Pandit Jasraj Award, Mahari Award, Sanjukta Panigrahi Award, and Aditya Birla Kala Kiran Award earlier.
