“Good news for south Asia”

Special Correspondent

NEW DELHI: Bharatiya Janata Party president Rajnath Singh has congratulated Awami League leader Sheikh Hasina on her party’s landslide in the Bangladesh elections.

Mr. Singh expressed the confidence that the new democratic regime in Bangladesh would strengthen the war on terror in south Asia. Her victory was indeed “good news for the South Asian region, which is terribly affected by instability and terrorism,” he said.

“Your firm conviction in democracy and peace will certainly strengthen democratic traditions in Bangladesh. A stable and peaceful Bangladesh is not only in the interest of Bangladeshi people but it also builds a sense of coherence and consistency in the entire region,” he added.
