BANGALORE: Marian Primary and Middle School, Millers Road, held its annual sports meet recently. Recipient of the Padmabhushan, Malathi. K. Holla, was the chief guest on the occasion, and declared the sports meet open and received the salute. She said self-motivation was the key to success and told teachers and parents to inculcate this attitude in children. Ms. Malathi appreciated the discipline and active participation of children and told them to give importance to co-curricular activities. Sr. Bridget, manager of the school, gave away prizes to the winners in various events. Prajwala, a student, received a trophy and a special prize for her outstanding performance in the State-level swimming championship. Sr. Margaret, headmistress of the school, wished Prajwala success at the school nationals at Pune. The students of Ryan International School, Kundalahalli, have done their institution proud by winning many prizes at the recently held 9th International Children’s Festival of Performing Arts at New Delhi. The event was presented by the Ryan Foundation and hosted by Ryan International Schools India, in association with National Bal Bhavan and the Indian Council for Cultural Relations. In all, 60 schools from as many as 25 countries participated. CompetitionsVarious competitions such as dance, drama and street plays were lined up during the four-day festival. Many personalities from various fields such as Union Cabinet Minister Mani Shankar Aiyer, actors Aftab Shivdasani and Johnny Lever and ambassadors from different countries were present.
