Asnotikar wins by 17,343 votes

Karwar: The Bharatiya Janata Party candidate and Minister for Science and Technology and Fisheries Anand Asnotikar won the byelection to the Karwar Assembly Constituency by a margin of 17,343 votes over his nearest Congress rival Satish Sail. The Janata Dal (Secular) candidate Devidas Gaonkar only garnered 2,365 votes and lost his deposit. The JD(S) loss was humiliating as independent candidate Pandurang Naik won more votes than the Mr. Gaonkar. Independent candidate Rikshwawalla Elish Elakapati got 1,423 votes.
