Kampani in Dubai ‘on business trip’

HYDERABAD: Chairman of JM Financial Limited Nimesh Kampani, left for Dubai on December 27 to attend a “business meeting” and was expected to return to India upon completion of his “business meetings”, the company spokesperson clarified on Tuesday.
Referring to a report ‘Nimesh Kampani’s office searched in Mumbai’ published on Page 5 of the city edition on December 30, the spokesperson in a statement faxed on Tuesday said, the allegation that Mr. Kampani fled the country was “false and unfounded”. So was the allegation that the company’s office was searched by police personnel.
The Hyderabad and Mumbai police visited the company office on Monday to meet him regarding Nagarjuna Finance Ltd. ‘matter’. On being informed that Mr. Kampani was in Dubai, the police telephoned him.
The spokesperson claimed that Mr. Kampani told the police that he was in no way connected to NFL having resigned as its non-executive director in 1999 and was not involved with the alleged offences committed by NFL.
