Mathura: The Uttar Pradesh government is contemplating a proposal to relax norms for the setting up of universities in the State to facilitate participation of the private sector in higher education. “In order to encourage more private participation in the higher education, we are going to reduce the land requirement for a university from existing 50 acre to 30-35 acres,” Higher Education Minister Rakeshdhar Tripathi said. The minister said the state has set a target of 12 per cent enrolments in the higher education sector, as against the national average of 15 per cent.
