“Over 83,000 benefited from pension scheme”

VILLUPURAM: As much as Rs 3.49 crore is being given away every month under the Indira Gandhi National Old Age Pension Scheme in Villupuram district.

In all, 83,020 people are being benefited from the scheme, according to Collector R. Palanisamy.

In a statement released here, he said that under the scheme, those who were 65 years old and above and living below the poverty line, were eligible to get a monthly pension of Rs. 400.

Those who were eligible could submit applications to the respective Village Administrative Officers or the Special Tahsildar for Social Security Scheme, he said.
