PANAJI: The Goa Government will soon procure vans equipped with mammography machines to detect breast cancer cases. Speaking as chief guest after laying the foundation stone for a Rs. 92.66-crore state-of-the-art 556-bed district hospital and cardiac centre of excellence coming up at Margao in south Goa on Tuesday, the Chief Minister said that as per the health statistics available with the Government, breast cancer cases are increasing among women in Goa. “Procurement of vans will help diagnose this life-threatening disease at an early stage and treat it accordingly to save precious lives,” he said. The new hospital will cater to the healthcare needs of south Goa. It will be equipped with a 50-bed cancer unit.
