BANGALORE: With an aim of reducing the incidences of crime and modernising the Police Department, the Bangalore City Police have prepared an “Action Plan for 2009”. City Police Commissioner Shankar M. Bidari unveiled the plan at his office here on Wednesday. The department will have a 450-member armed commando force in 2009. “We have also decided to set up a Central Data Centre.” The main aim of the plan was to reduce the incidences of crime and accident , Mr. Bidari told presspersons. Steps would be taken to procure sophisticated arms and ammunition, he said. The department’s aim was to bring down the incidences of crime and accident. A website for the Bangalore City Police would be inaugurated by February-end, he said. He said the proposed Central Data System would have details of criminal activities, criminal antecedents and accused persons. Apart from that it would have information about unexecuted warrants and summons. Unexecuted warrants and summons received from other States would be entered in the system by March. The department had chalked out an action plan to set up a commando force comprising 450 personnel and procure sophisticated arms and ammunition by April 30, he said. Orders pertaining to intimation of tenants, controlling places of amusement and entertainment, and computerisation of information on foreign nationals living in the city and those absconding would be implemented by March 31, he said.
