Award for Balamuralikrishna

DHARWAD: Vocalist M. Balamuralikrishna will be conferred the prestigious Dr. Mallikarjun Mansur Samman at a function to be held in Dharwad on Friday.

According to a press release issued by the Dr. Mallikarjun Mansur National Memorial Trust, of which Deputy Commissioner of Dharwad is chairman, Dr. Balamuralikrishna has been chosen for the award in recognition of his contribution to the field of music.

While district-in-charge Minister Murugesh Nirani will inaugurate the award ceremony, nonagenarian vocalist Gangubai Hangal will confer the award on Dr. Balamuralikrishna.

The reprinted Kannada book of Dr. Mallikarjun Mansur “Nanna Rasayaatre” will be released by noted poet Channaveera Kanavi on the occasion. The award presentation ceremony, which will be attended by a host of elected representatives, will conclude with a music concert by Dr. Balamuralikrishna. The event will begin at 7 p.m. at Dr. Mallikarjun Mansur Kalabhavan.
