Religiosity follows revelry


While the New Year eve belonged to weekend resorts and special events, the next day was certainly reserved for favourite gods.

Many thronged temples in the city, those worshipping the subaltern goddesses included.

The day being a Thursday, Saibaba temples experienced unusual turnout.

Devotees queued up for a kilometre from the main entrance, waiting patiently for their appointment with the ‘almighty’.

Whether god listened to the devotees or not, he certainly answered the prayers of coconut-sellers.
