Kadamakkal road: forest officials told to cooperate

Madikeri: Kodagu in-charge Secretary R. Suresh on Thursday told officials of the Forest Department to cooperate with the district administration with regard to development of Madikeri-Galibeedu-Kadamakkal-Subramanya road. The Forest Department is opposing the development of the road stating that it comes under the Pushpagiri Wildlife Sanctuary. Residents of Kadamakkal cleaned the road a few days ago. The Deputy Commissioner clarified that the PWD had declared the 33.5-km stretch of the road as a major district road in 1992.

About 20 km of the road had been asphalted and the contention was on a seven-km stretch.
